A fully-resourced double lesson that focuses on teaching coordinating conjunctions, with a specific focus on ‘and, but, so’.
The first lesson focuses on being able to identify them, as well as discussing the role they play. The second lesson then takes this learning and extends it by requiring children to decide what the most appropriate coordinating conjunction is in each sentence.

Two weeks of fully planned and resourced English planning linked to the book ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch’.
This includes both reading and writing planning so children can become immersed in the book to support their understanding in both areas.
The writing planning includes:
A fully resourced two week unit on diary writing, linked to the book The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch.
Included are two weeks worth of lesson PowerPoints, activities and sheets as well as support sheets where required and model extracts that can be used. Answer sheets are also included for any tasks that require them.
The ten lesson sequence follows the order as below:
Lesson 1 - Features of a diary
Lesson 2 and 3 - Past tense
Lesson 4 - Writing a diary extract
Lesson 5 - Commas in a list
Lesson 6 - Writing a diary extract
Lesson 7 - Time adverbials
Lesson 8, 9 and 10 - Writing diary extracts
Each grammar focus lesson ties in to the lesson that follows where the skill will then be applied as part of the diary extract written that day. A link is also included to a version of the story being read aloud.
All components of the resource are uploaded as PowerPoints so that any subtle changes that need to be made for your class can be done.

50 different questions for Chapter Six of The Firework-Maker's Daughter by Philip Pullman that test a range of skills. These can be used for guided reading sessions or to give children as activities to support guided reading sessions/ whole class reading comprehensions. The questions follow the order of the chapter but don't have answers attached as the answers can vary depending on the child's opinion.
A reading comprehension aimed at higher ability children within the group with 23 questions and answers included that get children to practise using information texts and their layout to help them answer questions. Written for Year 5 in mind but easily useable between Year 4 and 7.
Six reading comprehension lessons that focus on The Firework-Maker's Daughter.
Each lesson follows the same style, focusing on reading the chapter before looking at any vocabulary children are unsure of. Children will then be shown how to pick out key words from questions as well as looking at what question words are looking for.
